Advocates play an important role in creating greater access for individuals with LEP to other community systems and resources. This work is critical because it decreases barriers for the individuals that you work with, makes approaching the same resource easier the next time, and decreases barriers for others in similar situations.

This section can help you identify strategies to build greater language access for individuals with LEP in your area.

Systems change is most often a long-term process that requires building long-term strategic relationships. Itā€™s the work of building allies and cultivating champions for change when you can. Multiple levels of leadership are often required to effect change and building strong allies across different organizations, disciplines and systems can enhance documentation of the problem and create greater pressure to implement solutions. In all systems change work, relationships are key, and it may take trying several different strategies before you see results.
